Call for Papers

We invite submissions by the community from those working on or with physical wearable devices for health and wellness related purposes. You may submit any of these contributions for consideration. Regardless of paper acceptance, the workshop will be open to any and all attendees interested in this space.

Submission Types

  • A Demo Submission which can be presented on during the talks and displayed during our Demo session. Up to a 4 page submission not including references. We highly encourage demo submissions with fully working prototypes so attendees can use them in real time.
  • A Lessons Learned Report describing an experience or challenge while working on or deploying health related wearable devices. This can include development or deployments of personal health devices, clinical devices, ambulatory studies, etc. You will be able to present your work during the talks session. Up to a 4 page submission not including references.
  • Posters describing ongoing work or early prototypes. The work can be presented during the talks session and displayed during the demo session. Up to a 4 page submission not including references.

Some Topics of Interest (Not Extensive)

  • Advances in wearable sensing for capturing biomarkers (novel applications of existing sensors, new sensing modalities, new physical sensors)
  • Novel wearable form factors
  • Physical AI Systems utilizing wearable health data
  • Reports of sensing challenges for health diagnosis
  • Reports of challenges and lessons learned when developing or deploying clinical wearable systems or ambulatory studies
  • Privacy preserving solutions, insights, architectures (on device AI, more optimized sensing to reduce models, etc)
  • Embedded AI for health inference or data processing
  • Devices that act on the user or provide therapy (e.g. Insulin Patches, Hearing Aids, Snoring Mitigation Pillows, etc)
  • Low power architectures (circuits and algorithms)
  • Devices built for clinical deployment or data collections (e.g. Sensing in clinical settings, robust designs, etc)
  • Cost effective solutions for resource constrained environments

Submission Guidelines

All submissions should use the Standard ACM Two Column Format, templates can be found on the ACM Website. Details for the submission portal will be placed here shortly (likely through PCS or HotCRP). If you have any questions or concerns, you can send an email to healthcentricwearables[at]gmail.com with the subject line [Question]. You may also email the organizers directly at atching[at]cs.washington.edu.

Review Process

Each submission will undergo single blind review, please include all names and affiliations of the authors.

The submitted papers will be reviewed for relevance, novelty, technical soundness, and overall quality of writing. We highly encourage papers that involve physical hardware that can also be shown during the workshop.
